Week 12It is the final week of my genius hour project. We have had a good week of practice. We have had late practice everyday this week from 5:15-6:45 so I have gotten home a little late most nights. During practice this week while we were scrimmaging I came down on my ankle the wrong way and now I have to do physical therapy for it. I can still play in the games, I just cant go a long period of time because it will start to hurt really bad. MidweekIt is half way through the week of my last week of genius hour. We have done the same thing in practice most every day. After we stretched we do a three man drill, after that we will do a drill where we get into groups of five and go down and back on the court ans run plays. In the middle of all this we do free throw conditioning and the we get back to whatever we were doing. ConclusionIt is the end of the last week of my project. I think the last week was really good. We did most of the same things we usually do, but we did scrimmage a lot more this week then most days. I have started every game we have had. I do not score as much as I would like to, but I get most of the rebounds on the team. One game I had ten and another I had about twelve so I am doing pretty good. Although the project will end I will still being trying to do better like I was during the time. I hope these blogs helped keep u up to date on my project and maybe you learned something.

Week 11It is week eleven of my project. We had one game this week, we lost 41-43. We did not play that bad there was just things wrong overall and we ended up losing. We have one game next week against Carson. We only have one game next week because the other game that got rescheduled for Monday because of the snow got rescheduled again because that team is still in the football playoffs and not all of there players are there yet. ConclusionIt is the end of the week. We started the week off good and now we hope to finish it the same way. In my next blog I will say if we won against Carson or not. The way we have practiced so far, it looks like the game will go good. I feel like we have become a little better as a team in general after these last few days. We still need to step up in certain ways but we are making progress little by little.
Week 10It is week ten of my genius hour project. We had another game last Friday , we won 53-22. The team is now 2-0 at home and 1-0 away so we are 3-0 in total. I think we are a really good team overall. Most games we play good its just a few bad things happen here and there. There hasn't been but one game where there was any real competition, but once we get into conference there will be so we have a lot of room as a team to grow and get better. ConclusionIt is the end of week ten. I think overall we had a good week. The practice this week was fun. We did a new drill where both teams started with four sprints and for every point you got the other team got a sprint and you got one taken away, also if you turned the ball over the other team got one taken away and you got one added. Although we had a good week of practice the game wasn't the best, it was good that we won but it got close. We need to slow down and play the way we play and take our time. If we do that we will be ok and improve next time.
Week 9It is week nine of my project. We have had two games, we won them both. I have started both games at the four spot. Our second game was yesterday (11/27) and we have another game this week on Friday at Alexander Central, it is our first away game. Recently we have had more of the early practices, so we get home at a good time. We have played good the last two games but we can improve on things. Personally If I could hold on to the ball I mite get to stay in longer and do better. I score some but if I could slow down and stop rushing things it would go a lot better. Although I don´t score a whole lot I play good defense and hustle to the ball which helps me get more playing time. ConclusionWe have had our third game,we won fifty something to twenty two. I did good overall. I did not score a lot, I only had six points but I had ten rebounds. That is what i mostly do on the team sense I don't score a lot I make up for it on defense. We are 3-0 so far in the season. I have started all three games so far and I hope to keep starting. Our next game is Friday at home. I will say how I did in my next blog and if I started again.
Week 8It is week eight of mt genius hour project. We have had our first game, we won 58-19. The game goes by really fast, I think the quarters are five minutes each but they fly by. Overall I think I did good. I had six points, six rebounds, two steals and I started. I do not know if I will start every game but I think it was pretty cool to start my very first game. ConclusionWe have done the same thing at practice everyday. Over the break we had too practices, at both of the practices we warmed up then shot free throws and to end we would either run the plays that we messed up on or we would scrimmage. We have two games this week, one is at home the other is away. IN the next blog I will tell how I did and how the team did also I will tell if we won.
Week 7It is week seven of my project. Sense basketball has started I have not been to the Y as much as I was before it started. I still go but we do a lot at practice so I mostly go straight home. We do almost the same thing at practice every day. First we shoot around to get loose, next we stretch that is followed by running, after that we do a few drills where we pass down the court and we end with a lay up, It will depend on if we either do a half court drill where you dribble then either shoot a lay up or shoot a jump shot. Most of the time if we do that first we do free throw conditioning next. At the end of practice we do scrimmages either with the freshmen team or we do jv vs jv. MidweekIt is midway through the week and we have had practice every day so far. With football ending there were more people trying out after so we had to do another round of cuts. I have went to the y one day this week. The one day I got to go is the only day we had early practice, the other days they were late so I had know time to go. ConclusionIt is the end of the week, I made it through the second round of cuts so I made the team. Our first game is this Tuesday. I feel like we will win because we have have a good but we have never played together. We usually have the late practice so I get home at a later time. I will tell if we win the next blog but we have early practice tomorrow and then over brake we have morning practice.
Week 6It is week six of my genius hour project. I am in the first week of try outs, and I think I am doing pretty good. The coaches have talked about me and said I have been doing good. When we do free throw conditioning I most of the time only miss two or three shots out of about seven or eight free throws. I will know after to days practice if I made the cut or not. MidweekWe have had try outs every day this week. We have done different drills through out the last few days. One drill we do every day is where you go down the court and either shoot a jump shot or a lay up. Also another thing we do most every day is free throw conditioning. We shoot two free throws at a time and if you miss either one or both you do a sprint down the court and back but if you make them both you do not have to run. Another drill we do is where we do a certain dribbling technique down and back. ConclusionThis is The first full week of practice that we have had. We do the same thing most every day, It mite not be in the same order but its most of the same things. The average practice is about an hour and half but it can also last longer it just depends. We have to make one more thing of cuts this week but as of right now I'm on the team. I will say in the next blog if I stayed on the team or what will happen but I have to wait a week to find out.
Week 5It is week five of my genius hour project. I have had the same schedule most everyday, it would just depend on when my football practice got out. The football season ended last Thursday and now basketball tryouts are tomorrow,Monday. The tryouts are from 5:45-7:30, I do not know how many days the try outs will be but I do know the time. In my next blog I will say if i made the team or not. MidweekIt is midway through the week and I have went to the YMCA almost every day, If I got out of football at a good time I went to the y. When I went to the Y I did the same drills. The first thing I did was shoot around to get loose, next I did a drill where I dribbled and then did a jump shot, after that I shot three pointers and tried to make more then I did last time, the last thing I did was shoot free throws. I do not shoot free throws a lot but I will be doing more of them from now on. ConclusionAt the end of the time I was at the Y I lifted weights and relaxed. After I got done doing the drills and shooting around I went to weight room. I did not try to up the weight, I just kept it the same so I would not get to tired. When I got done I went to get in the pool. While I was in the pool/hot tub I did some stretches so I would not get any legs. I will not go to the y as much because I will have basketball but I will still go.
Week 4For the fourth week of my project I tried to maintain the same schedule as the previous weeks. I have went to the Y almost every day this week and done the same drills. Last week we got out of practice at a good time every day so I was able to go after practice for about two hours every day. I got to work out this week as well. The try outs are either this week or next week, but I will have to try out at a later date because football will not end until after the try outs and you cant try out while doing another sport. MidweekIt is half way through the week, and I have been to the YMCA one time so far, though I have done some drills at my house as well. We got out of practice at a good time this week, so I got to go to the Y on Monday night. Our game for Thursday got moved to today (Wednesday) and then with me having the varsity game Thursday night, I more then likely will not be able to go back to the Y until Friday. I do plan, however, to go on Saturday and Sunday to make up for Wednesday and Thursday. I did not get to lift weights on Monday night because I had to leave early, but I plan to the next time I go. ConclusionThis week overall I accomplished what I was trying to do. I did the footwork, ball handling and shooting drills I wanted to do. Also I Work out, I did not try to up the amount of weight I used. I just did more reps of the same weight I did last week. After I was done working out I went to the pool and relaxed, While I was in the pool I did some stretches to make sure I did not catch a cramp. I plan to do the same thing I did this week next week as well.
Week 3For the third week of my project I maintained my routine of going to the YMCA most days. Although I did not go to the Y every day I tried to go most days. We got out of practice a little late again this week and that got in the way of me going. Because I did not get to go the whole week I did go Saturday and Sunday to try and makeup the few days I missed. MidwayIt is halfway though the week. I had a football game Monday so I could not go to the YMCA. I have gotten out of football later everyday this week, so I have not been able to got practice at the Y, but I have done most of my drills at my house because I have a basketball goal and I have enough room to practice dribbling. The only thing I have not been able to do is lift weights. I plan to go at least once this week to so I don't get out of the routine. If we get out of practice early enough, I will be able to go and do my regular schedule, but if I can not go any this week, I will probably go Saturday and Sunday. ConclusionWhen I got done with the drills I went and worked out. I did not try to raise the weight this week only cause my arm is hurting so I kept it the same. I did not up the weight, so I just did more reps with the same weight from last week. After I got done lifting I went and got in the pool so I would not get cramps in my legs from lifting. I plain to do the same thing I did this week, next week as well. I mite up the weight if my arm does not hurt next week.
